Know what medical facilities on board the ship you are traveling are capable of caring for.
Be prepared if you have to evacuate for medical reasons. Its important to have traveler's insurance.
Bring special equipment, oxygen, CPAP machines, medical supplies, arrange for special care such as dialysis if needed.
Wash, wash, wash your hands. Its the best way to prevent the spread of infections, especially norovirus, the virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea on cruise ships.
Get a flu shot and be up to date on all of your immunizations. Make sure you have appropriate vaccines for locations visited.
Be aware of possible hazards and illnesses while on off shore excursions.
Follow safe food and water precautions.
Use sunscreen and insect repellents.
Practice safe sex, if sexually active.
Be prepared to treat motion sickness.
Carry enough medications for your trip and a few extra pills of each to in case of lay over.
