Importance of Travel Health Consults

There are many reasons to have a travel health consult before you travel. Ideally this should be done 6-8 weeks before you travel, however its never too late. There are many parts that go into a consultation visit. We review your medications, medical history, and vaccines; and ask questions about previous travel, dental health, and behavioral health. We will ask you about areas planned to visit and activities planned. This enables us to determine if you are safe to travel and how we can work together to best to ensure your health and safety while traveling. Every trip is as unique as the travelers.

We not only discuss and make sure you have all the vaccines needed prior to your travel and give your medications to prevent malaria if needed; we discuss your health, your risks given your health, activities planned, and areas travel to determine what is recommended. This includes, but is not limited to vaccines, medications for malaria prophylaxis, traveler's diarrhea, altitude illness, mosquito precautions, food and water precautions, as well as safety and security during times of routine travel or when the expected natural or civil disaster could happen.

Its always best to be prepared than spend time and money on a trip that does not go as planned. Call us at 800-745-5056 or email us at ppiette@wmtravelhealth.com to schedule your travel consult. Individual, couple, and rates consults and fees are available. Flexible scheduling is available.
